"Quality Early Learning and Child Care is Economic Infrastructure" - Armine Yalnizyan— Economist & Atkinson Fellow on The Future Of Workers
Synopsis
Our new childcare policy in Canada, CWELCC, is an opportunity.
It has put childcare on the map as an economic foundation and promises to reduce fees for parents. We now need to shift its focus to wages for Early Learning and Child Care workers.
We can’t have a Canada-wide childcare program without qualified and appropriately compensated early childhood educators and other child care staff. Attracting and retaining quality staff is the primary stumbling block when it comes to affordable childcare for all.
