Early Learning and Child Care Design Labs: Ontario Municipalities
ELCC Design Labs were a series of design thinking workshops hosted in 2023 that brought together community leaders from across Ontario to ideate solutions to the 'big messy problems' facing ELCC today.
Project Summary
Between 2023-2024 Better Together hosted a series of Early Learning and Child Care Design Labs in response to the widespread Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) workforce crisis in Ontario—an issue that has a ripple effect to our economy as a whole.
This initiative served as a conversation and connection forum where key stakeholders came together to explore innovative solutions that could address the pressing challenges and systems gaps that face the ELCC sector.
The Design Labs provided an interactive, workshop-style environment that fostered collaboration, systems thinking and innovation. A diverse cross-section of community leaders participated, offering valuable perspectives on child care needs and opportunities, including business, government, education, recreation and leisure, families, and immigration.
This collective effort, sparked actionable ideas and relationships aimed at strengthening the workforce and improving access to quality child care.
